More than half the population. More than half of what we're listening to.
Back in March we brought you a playlist celebrating Women’s History Month. Spanning jazz, blues, folk, country, pop and rock with music from Etta James, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Joni Mitchell and even a little Dolly. On revisiting the tracks earlier this week I felt it was time we added some ‘new blood’ into the mix. We don’t need to wait for next March either – there’s too many fantastically talented ladies out there, some established – Neko Case and Fiona Apple and some exciting new acts like Edelle McMahon and Mandy Bingham. Women make up 51% of the population and I’d wager at least 51% of the musical gems we are waiting to discover. so go ahead – listen, discuss, let us know who we’ve missed, who you’re listening to and who we should be listening to!
